Erin Minelli, Attorney Profile

Erin Minelli, Public Benefits Attorney

Erin Minelli is an attorney at the Law Offices of Schwartz & Storey. Ms. Minelli’s practice primarily focuses on appealing the denial of public benefits such as In Home Support Services at the administrative and state court levels. The process of applying for public benefits can be complicated and intimidating, and Ms. Minelli remains committed to working with families to procure the utmost quality of care for their disabled loved one in the most efficient way possible.

Ms. Minelli’s passion for advocating on behalf of the disabled has remained a constant focal point throughout her academic and professional career. While attending California Western School of Law, Ms. Minelli was a member of the Public Interest Honors Society and served as the president of the Health Law Society. In addition, Ms. Minelli co-authored a scholarly journal article, entitled Transplant Candidates and Substance Use: Adopting Rational Health Policy for Resource Allocation, 44(3) University of Michigan Journal of Law and Reform 667 (2011), which highlighted the inequities faced by organ transplant candidates who presented substance abuse issues, and proposed a national set of hospital guidelines to combat such disparities.

Prior to joining the Law Offices of Schwartz & Storey, Ms. Minelli served a limited-term Deputy Attorney General appointment with the California Department of Justice, Bureau of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse. There, she prosecuted felony elder and dependent adult abuse cases on behalf of elderly and disabled individuals who suffered criminal exploitation because of their mental and/or physical vulnerabilities. Ms. Minelli has also litigated cases on behalf of private claimants in both state and federal court on an individual and class basis.

In addition to practicing law, Ms. Minelli has spent a significant amount of time volunteering with communal based organizations that serve financially underprivileged and disabled clients, such as the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, and received the Wiley W. Manuel Pro Bono Service Award for her efforts.

Ms. Minelli received her undergraduate degree from Northeastern University in 2005 and graduated magna cume laude. She is an active member of the San Diego County Bar Association, Lawyers Club of San Diego and the Hon. William B. Enright American Inn of Court.
